About Me

PICTURE IN SCRUBS

Hi.

I am an RN nurse with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing and a Masters Degree in a scientific field where in another lifetime I did 20+ years of research. My primary experience has been working with older patients and their families in Transitional Care Units and Long Term Care/Skilled Nursing.
This experience has allowed me insight into patient experiences and a longer relationship with patients and their families than hospital stays and episodic crises. I get to see long term outcomes of healthcare experiences and to support patients who interact with healthcare frequently.

I have many reasons for putting this website together. Some of them:

1. When I began nursing school, one of my nursing career goals was to keep people out of the hospital.  Help them get the care they needed outpatient - like at a clinic  and return home the same day or with the new telehealth technology.

2. To reduce obstacles to getting good, appropriate, timely healthcare.

3. To reduce the anxiety and frustration of seeking and receiving healthcare.

4. To improve the work environment for healthcare staff: nurses, doctors, nursing assistants, physical and occupational therapists, and the rest of the many people who make up your healthcare team

These are some of my reasons for putting together this website.

Things I'm not doing on this website:
1. Going into excruciating detail - there are links to this information
2. Discuss in detail specific conditions - there are great websites for this and, again, there are links to reputable websites, like Mayo, the University of Minnesota, Sloan-Kettering. But you can do your own internet searches for Johns Hopkins, the Cleveland Clinic, MD Anderson, the Harvard Medical School affiliates.
