About This Blog/website

  1. The information on this website has been sourced from reputable organisations and their websites.
    • Some have the HONcredential which means the website is inspected twice a year and must meet requirements.
    • Other websites are university websites, government websites, websites that work with states.
    • Very little detailed information is from me, but as a registered nurse and nurse manager I have a good idea of what to look for.
  1. I have tried to capture the basic information that you need to communicate with your physicians and healthcare teams.
    • There are thousands of pages of information, good information, on navigating healthcare in the United States.
    • This website is different because I have constructed a skeleton with links to the flesh.
  1. Preparation is everything.
    • Why can the doctors and nurses and support staff talk so fast? Because they are prepared. They may not be right, but they know their protocols.
    • Therefore, you have to prepare so that you get YOUR job done.
    • What are your questions? What are your signs and symptoms?
    • What did the doctor or NP or PA change last visit or during this visit?
    • You have to take notes.
    • You have to write out your questions ahead of time.
    • You have to know the correct phone numbers to contact your healthcare team.

  1. Preparation makes good communication possible.
